Best of Hadrian’s Wall Path (2 days)

Hadrian's Wall offers fantastic walking and the chance to discover more about this ancient monument to the Roman's occupation of Britain. This long distance path starts at Bowness on Solway in Cumbria and ends at Walls End in Newcastle. These two days follow the stretch of Wall between Chollerford and Lanercost. The walk provides fantastic views, interesting walking and the opportunity to visit an ancient Priory, Mile castles, Roman Forts and walk next to the Wall itself in the most spectacular scenery.  The amount of walking per day can be changed to suit your individual needs and there are many Roman remains to visit along the way, including Housesteads and Chesters Forts, Vindolanda and the Roman Army Museum.  Choose any of these to give you a greater insight into what this area was like under Roman occupation.  There are also cafes at many of the attractions to enjoy a break!  If you want to travel by public transport then the mainline railway stops at Hexham and Haltwhistle (on the Carlisle to Newcastle line) which are near each end of our walk.  Along the Wall there is a regular bus service on the AD122 so the day can be broken up by doing a walk and then visiting a Roman site. Accommodation can be arranged along the Wall and evening meals can be taken locally.  Contact us for further information, giving us the amount of walking you would like to do per day and which Roman sites you might like to visit.  We can design an itinerary to suit you!

Explore the Howgill Fells (2 days)

This area of Cumbria is not as popular as its neighbour the Lake District but it has much to offer the fell walker. There are some great days out to be had exploring these hills and valleys often not meeting anyone else for the whole day. So if you are looking for some peace and solitude as well as great walking then head to the Howgill Fells.  There is good walking from Sedbergh taking in Winder hill and the Calf or if heading to the Howgills from the north-east direction, why not have an energetic walk up to Cautley Spout and then carry on over some of the many hill tops in the area, making your own circular walk?  There are views over to the Lake District, Pennines and Yorkshire Dales from the tops so on a clear day you can see a long way!

DO IT...

3 Peaks (4 days)

This is a classic challenge in its own right. It is possible to do all three in 24 hours, but for many this is not the reason why they want to do these three classic mountains. So why not take a day to do each and have time to enjoy the walking and the scenery? Let Eden Outdoor Adventures get you there and then guide you to each summit by some interesting routes.

Ben Nevis:

Starting from Glen Nevis we take the main tourist route to the summit,  but unlike other three peakers we then carry on and tackle the classic ridge of Carn Mor Dearg Arete and then descend down to the Allt a Mhuilinn and through forest to the North Face Car Park.

Scafell Pike:

There are a number of options open to the walker to gain the highest peak in England. We can start in Borrowdale and ascend via the Corridor Route before dropping down into Wasdale. There is even the option to take in its neighbour, and second highest mountain,  Scafell.  Another option is to head up to the Scafell PIke via Great End and either return to Borrowdale via the Corridor Route or take in Scafell and then drop down to Wasdale.

Snowdon:

Take in all Snowdon has to offer by doing the classic Snowdon Horseshoe. Ascend on to Crib Goch and traverse its airy ridge on to Crib y Ddysgl before coming to the summit of Snowdon. From here descend to Y Llewedd, a great shield of rock overlooking Llyn Llydaw. From this final summit we descend back to Pen Y Pass.

Variations for each day can be made depending on how people feel and the weather. For those who want a real challenge why not try it in winter! Ideal for those with some winter walking experience and a good level of fitness.

Grade:

A route with a large amount of ascent and descent, requiring a good level of fitness and previous summer hill walking experience.

Cost:

Contact us to discuss your trip.

Optional Extras:

We are able to arrange pick up and drop offs from Penrith railway station before and after the trip at no extra cost.

We can also arrange pick up and drop off from Glasgow and Manchester Airports as well as Warrington Bank Quay railway station - other locations may be possible. Please contact us to discuss options.

We can organise and purchase food and drinks for the trip.
